Information about things you can do during your stay in Nunspeet.

All events in the area are listed in a newspaper available from the campsite office or more detailed information is available from the tourist office (VVV) which is opposite the museum at the Stationslaan 31b

de Brake

Indoor Swimming pool “de Brake” is in Nunspeet and also has Bowling (10 minutes by car or bike)

De zandenplas

“De zandenplas” is 15 minutes by bike or car.  It’s a small lake with beach and is very save for children as long as they stay at the right side of the roped off area (past the rope the water is deeper). No fee if you go by bike but by car there is a charge for parking.

Market day

Normal market day in Nunspeet is Thursday mornings but during July/August on   Tuesday’s there is a special summer market from 10am to 5pm in the centre of Nunspeet.  

Epe summer Market

In Epe (20 mins by car or 1 hour approx. by bike) the summer Market (called “the Braderie “ ) is Friday evenings from 7-9pm and is nice to visit.  Just before the Braderie from approx. 6pm there is a special flea market where second hand items are sold and kids sell toys etc.

Nearby Walks

You can easily walk for hours through the area’s at the back (lovely heather fields and sand dunes etc)  and side of the campsite ( more forest walks). You will find  entrances in front of bunglow 1 and at the back of the campsite

About fifteen minutes walk there re animals like zebra’s, donekys, deer and lama’s in a fenced off area.

Onderduikershut

The “Onderduikershut” is also worth a visit.  It is an area in the forest where they hid Jews and English or American pilots,  from the Germans during the war and is near Epe/vierhouten. (25 mins by bike).  You can more information from the tourist office (VVV).

Walibi World

There is an Amusement park “Walibi World” near Elburg (20 mins by car -1 hour by bike), good parking, Huge rollercoasters. Prices are changing per day.

Dolfinarium Harderwijk

Dolfinarium in Harderwijk (lovely old harbour town)  (20 mins by car -1 hour by bike) – Have nice dolphin/seal shows, there is also a playground, restaurant and you can feed/touch the winged fish in a special pool.   Information on times etc available from office on entry.   From Harderwijk harbour boat tours are also available.

Midgetgolf

Midgetgolf (pitch and put ) in Epe as well in Elburg., but also on the campsite (cost are €5-,. P.p.  Elburg is a nice little village, an old fishermans place near the former Zuiderzee which was formerly open sea but is now a lake (called IJsselmeer) surrounded by reclaimed land (called polders). Nice for walking, shopping and sailing by cruise of with old sailing boats called Botters(

Cost 1.5 hours €180,-. For twelve people.

Berg en Bosch

In Apeldoorn 45mins by car  is “Berg en Bosch” a lovely nature park with wild deer and pigs and is next to (same entrance)“Apenheul” which is an open monkey park with Good parking. Monkeys are all running around free and often like to sit on your shoulder etc, kids love it.

De Hoge Veluwe – Apeldoorn

National park “De Hoge Veluwe” in Otterlo, near Apeldoorn. Beautifull wildpark with deer. Museum under the ground level is very interesting as well as the Kroller Muller museum with work from van Gogh. About an hour by car. In the park you can use bikes for free.

City Trips

There are three lovely cities approx. 45 mins by car all worth visiting.  Zwolle and Deventer are old trading cities on the river IJssel (which flows to the IJsselmeer) and trains run directly to them from Nunspeet if you prefer not to drive. Apeldoorn is a newer big city and is better to visit by car.

From Nunspeet are also train connections to Amersfoort and Amsterdam.

Duinrell Amusement park

“Duinrell” Amusement park (with the biggest slides in Europe) is in Wassenaar near The Hague. About an hour and a half by Car and can be very busy in the summer.

Madurodam

“Madurodam”, which is Holland in Miniature is lovely to visit and is the same distance as Duinrell.

de Efteling – Fairytale park

Fairy-tale and amusement park “de Efteling” is in Noord Brabant. About an hour and a half, by car and is very interesting for both adults and kids, but can be very busy and expensive.

Slagharen

Shetland pony park and amusement park “Slagharen” is about an hour from the campsite and has swimming facilities – it is often very busy, but interesting.

Zuiderzee museum

The “Zuiderzee museum” is in Enkhuizen  about 60/75mins by car, and is worth a visit – it explains the current and future development of the Zuiderzee and the polder or reclaimed land.
